Enlightening communities about the Urban Water Cycle

A Melbourne water provider wanted to enlighten the community about the negative effects of storm water runoff in urban and suburban areas.

As the UI & 3D designer, I had the opportunity and creative freedom to craft an online experience to encourage the community to act for the health of our valuable natural resource – water.

The goal of this project was to encourage the water retailer's customers to act for the health of our valuable natural resource – water.

To engage the local community, recognisable Melbourne iconic buildings were used to immerse the audience into a world in which they can relate to.

We wanted to encourage the local community act by educating them about the urban water cycle.

The immersive website was created to tell the story of the urban water cycle – both as it stands now, and how people can make positive change.

As the user scrolls, the world rotates, enabling users to follow raindrops as they run off hard surfaces in suburbia.

From the roads, to the drain, to the river... or to your rainwater tank and rain garden.

This microsite became an integral part of a broader water-wise project that helped households and businesses save water and on their bills.

Having the freedom to be very hands on, my role included concept design, visual design, 3D modelling, animation, interface and interaction design of a suite of digital products.
